Rough first week adapting to Null Sec

Greetings fellow travelers of Eve. I guess some quick introductions are in order, I play the character Yucca Firethorne in Eve Online. Yucca was born on 2 July 2022 and joined two of her alts who were borne slightly before her. She initially started in High Sec as a Porpoise pilot in a corporation that didn't last long, then joined another High Sec mining corporation that also didn't last long, which was followed by yet another one that we decided wasn't for us. Along the way she converted into an Orca pilot and was joined by two more then three more mining alts.

For a brief time she was a corporation CEO and owner of a refinery and engineering station. She started producing fuel blocks, lead mining fleets on ice, moon and asteroids and had a blast. But she wanted something else. So not too long ago I quit my corporation after packing up my stations and went to worm hole space. That also didn't last too long as I kept losing Praxis battleships rolling holes to keep the C4 with a static C3/C5 safe. While in the wormhole I learned to do reactions and built two Nestor battle ships, I traded one to a customer and flew mine out when I decided wormhole life wasn't for me.

Which led me to my current adventure, Null Sec. I joined a Pandemic Horde industrial corps as I like mining (crazy right). And me and my now 6 alts (don't ask I have an issue) clone jumped or shuttled into Horde space. I learned how to use Jump Gate which was fun and saved me a lot of time by not jumping through other low/null security systems from Jita.

That being said lets cover a few things I have learned since joining my corporation in Pandemic Horde space.

First, a miner can make quite a bit of ISK in null sec space mining the super small asteroid belts. Not much reason to mine these but the asteroid belts do have access to Prime Arkonor which is very high in Megacyte. The ore anomalies have great ore in them too such as Triclinic Bistot, Crimson Arkonor, Luminous Kernite, Magma Mercoxit, Mercoxit, and Silvery Omber. All of these are loaded with Null Sec/Low Sec minerals Mexallon, Isogen, Morphite, Pyerite, and Zydrine

Second, non-player character mobs (NPC) pirate in Null Sec hit alot harder than the ones in High Sec. I have lost a few ships due to learning the ways of Null Sec. Losing three Porpoises to Infested Carriers is a great way to lose ISK. Each of my Porpoises run between 250-305 million ISK each. I have discovered that I am supremely unlucky and my particular Porpoises (an industrial command ship that helps increase my mining alts mining and allows compression of ore on ships) are very attractive to Infested Carriers in the drone lands, especially when I active my Industrial Core.

(clearly I am not a great PVPer)

Third, continual vigilance of the intelligence channels is also important. I did lose a fourth Porpoise to a Fraternity raider. Player-versus-Player (PVP) happens, a loss is a loss and it was my fault for not being vigilant enough. Luckily 5 of my 6 barges/Exhumers made it off the ore anomaly before their bubble went up. But I did lose a Hulk (a favorite exhumer target due to low tank ability) at the same time. This set me back a bit as I was hoping to complete having my 6-7 Hulks in my fleet (one for Yucca when a Rorqual is providing boosts).

(my current Porpoise)

        Finally, some of my plans...

1. Continue to train to get my Rorqual. I have built 14-15 of the capital pieces already.

2. Finish equipping my alts (I call them indentured miners) into Hulks. All of them are skilled into being able to mine ore, gas, ice and Mercoxit.

3. Keep having fun and doing new things. Since I came to Null Sec I have mined Prime Arkonor, Krystallos, Thisk Blue Ice, Dark Glitter, Gelidus, Crimson Arkonor and Triclinic Bistot. I like mining new stuff, so patiently waiting on a R8/16/32/64 moon as I haven't done those yet.

Maybe get better at PVP.

Anyway stay tuned and lets see what happens. Be safe and fly/mine dangerously!
